Masturbation is believed to be common among men and women.

However, because self-stimulation is regarded by some as shameful, people are embarrased to say they’re doing it.

Perhaps during this time of a global pandemic, folks would feel less awkward in talking about masturbation.

Afterall, it’s the safest form of sex nowadays amid the rampaging COVID-19 virus outbreak, according to the New York City Health Department.

The agency has released tips on sex and how to avoid the novel coronavirus.

“You are your safest sex partner,” the guidelines read.

“Masturbation will not spread COVID-19, especially if you wash your hands (and any sex toys) with soap and water for at least 20 seconds before and after sex,” the guidelines continue.

When having sex with another person, the city’s health department advises that one should take care and note the following:

      • Kissing can easily pass COVID-19. Avoid kissing anyone who is not part of your small circle of close contacts.

      • Rimming (mouth on anus) might spread COVID-19. Virus in feces may enter your mouth.

      • Condoms and dental dams can reduce contact with saliva or feces, especially during oral or anal sex.

      • Washing up before and after sex is more important than ever.
