Lower fuel prices and new surcharges introduced have helped WestJet post its best-ever financial results.

The company earned $367.5 million on revenues of $4 billion. It's seen revenue and profitability increase substantially every year since 2011, when it posted net earnings of $148.7 million.

Westjet has made money for 11 consecutive years.

Last month, WestJet started charging $25 to check in a bag on international flights after introducing the same fee last year to check in bags on domestic flights. Exit-row seat prices are also more expensive.

The company has added service from Vancouver to Los Angeles, Honolulu, Maui, and San Diego, but cut routes between Alberta and the smaller B.C. cities of Kamloops, Prince George, Terrace, and Nanaimo.

Meanwhile, the airline had a good year on the labour-relations front.

In May 2015, flight attendants signing a five-year contract and in August, WestJet Boeing 737 pilots voted against joining a union. WestJet Encore pilots agreed to a five-year agreement in December.

Last year, the airline signed code-sharing agreements with Philippine Airlines and Aeromexico.

WestJet has a fleet of 114 Boeing 737 Next Generation planes, two wide-body Boeing 767 aircraft, and 24 Bombardier Q400 planes.
