Consider it your green light to unleash your inner Girth Brooks, Stoya, Ricky Spanish, Jexxxica Blake, Yummy Couple, or Jade Baker. And apologies if we missed anyone from your favourite niche.

The 2024 edition of the Dan Savage-endorsed HUMP! Film Festival is now taking submissions. The rules are simple: amateur filmmakers with a healthy appreciation of sex are encouraged to submit their original short erotic films. Those chosen by judges will be showcased in next year’s HUMP! Film Festival, which opens in Seattle, Portland, and San Francisco, and then goes on tour across the US, Canada, and Europe.

Should you worry about finding yourself on Pornhub, xHamster, or your weird Uncle Ernie’s Dell hard drive for the next 30 years, um, really who cares about that in 2023, when every second person on the SkyTrain has an Only Fans page. You look great, and the world appreciates that.

There are guidelines for what’s billed as the world’s “foremost celebration of short erotic films.” Before you break out the iPhone, RCA CC641 Camcorder, or Canon 514XL Super-8 camera, consider this:

HUMP! encourages submissions from all walks of life, welcoming an array of genres and themes, be it hardcore, softcore, live action, animated, kinky, vanilla, straight, gay, lesbian, bi, trans, or genderqueer. The only limitations are strictly no fecal matter, animals or minors.

As always, festival audiences will vote for their favourite films in categories which include Best in Show, as well as Best Kink, Best Sex, and Best Humor. A percentage of every ticket sold will go back to the amateurs whose films make it into the festival.

Those who dream of quitting their jobs and making a full-time career move into adult movies will be happy to hear that past HUMP! films like Lawnboy and the mockumentary How To Get A Leg Up In Porn have found success after being re-released by their makers after the festival.

The deadline for 2024 festival submissions is December 8. For more information, go to here.
