GEMFest announces winning films for 2024

      Nevermind the Oscars—consider this your new film watchlist.

      As the Gender Equity in Media Society closes its annual GEMFest for another year, it has announced the winners of its festival awards.

      With a mission of championing women and gender diverse filmmakers both locally and abroad, GEMFest nurtures established and emerging talent through its five-day festival, which takes place at the VIFF Centre.

      Big winners this year include Valentina Maurel’s I Have Electric Dreams and Tautuktavuk (What We See) by Lucy Tulugarjuk and Carol Kunnuk.
