Fox Cabaret gets ready to celebrate 10 years of fun with a special mystery guest

In a city where it sometimes seems like three venues close every time one gets off the ground, it’s been a welcome success story. A decade ago, the Fox Cabaret opened its doors in Mount Pleasant, the room having one of the most colourful histories of any venue in Vancouver. And it's never been more popular than today.

In the past, the building at 2321 Main was, at various times, a porn theatre, B-movie grindhouse, and lo-rent Bollywood flicks destination. But mostly it was known as the place where Vancouverites pulled on their trenchcoats and then settled in for a triple bill of The Sperminator, Intercourse with a Vampire, and ET: The Extra Testicle

Today, the Fox is getting ready to celebrate 10 years as one of Vancouver’s most-loved venues: a place that on any given night is as apt to host live indie music as it is dance parties, comedy showcases, art installations, and more.

On April 18, the Fox hosts a 10-year anniversary party, with Vancouver indie-experimentalists Jo Passed and Cherry Pick guaranteed to play, and a special secret headliner that won’t be revealed until the morning of the show.

On that latter front, the possibilities are endless.

Nickelback, who’ll be playing BC Place the next day?

Nardwuar the Human Serviette and his Evaporators?

Mother Mother, who we’re happy to see have graduated to headlining hockey rinks?

Michael Bublé doing a thrash-punk set backed by the surviving members of the Subhumans?

Peter North doing an acoustic solo set where everyone in the first three rows gets a safety goggles and a free raincoat?

You can secure yourself a spot at the front of the stage by picking up an advance $25 ticket. Once all online tickets are sold out, there will be a limited number released at the door.
