Grammy Award-winning soprano Audrey Luna, who has performed on some of the world’s biggest operatic stages, is coming to Vancouver for the launch of the Vancouver Opera’s 2023/2024 season this October.

Luna’s resume is nothing short of impressive, with the Metropolitan Opera, Vienna State Opera, Royal Opera House – Covent Garden, Berlin Philharmonic, and Salzburg Festival all in her regular rotation. And soon she’ll add her Vancouver Opera debut to the mix for its production of Motzart’s classic The Magic Flute, in which she’ll play its most famous character: the Queen of the Night.

The Vancouver Opera’s season, which takes place at the Queen Elizabeth Theatre, also includes Gaetano Donizetti’s Don Pasquale (February 2024) and George Bizet’s Carmen (April 2024).

As always, these operas are sung in their original language, with English surtitles accompanying the lyrics above the stage. Though really, with this artform, language seems not to matter so much. Just close your eyes and feel it in your body.
