Vancouver's Ludi Lin cast as Black Ranger in Power Rangers movie
Chinese Canadian hottie Ludi Lin (林路迪) has been cast as Zack, the Black Ranger in the Power Rangers big-screen reboot.
Lin, who is now based in Beijing, was born in China and lived in Australia before moving to Canada as a teenager (where his family still lives) for studies at UBC.
Lin’s film credits include Monster Hunt and Lost in Hong Kong. He’ll also appear in season 2 of Netflix’s Marco Polo.
The film is a reimagining of the 1993 Fox Kids TV series, which led to Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie in 1995. The U.S. series drew upon the long running Japanese Super Sentai Series.
Two other actors previously cast include Naomi Scott (The Martian) as the Pink Ranger and Australia’s Dacre Montgomery as the Red Ranger.
The film will be directed by Dean Israelite (Project Almanac) with a script by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz (X-Men: First Class).
The film is slated to premiere on January 13, 2017.
Lin took to social media to express his pleasure about the news.
