On Our Radar: Boslen’s “Tell Me Why” (plus a special DL Chicken sando)

A fried chicken sandwich collab might be the most epic way to celebrate the release of a new single.

Chilliwack-born, Vancouver-based hip-hop artist Boslen, who has a quickly-growing fanbase both locally and abroad despite only being in his early twenties, has dropped his latest song, titled “Tell Me Why”.

Reminiscent of Kid Cudi and the late, great Juice Wrld (who died in 2019), Boslen pairs the vast range of his smooth, haunting vocals with influences of hip-hop, R&B, and electro into songs that demand to be grooved to—even if you’re just sitting at your desk.

In the accompanying documentary-style video for “Tell Me Why”, the multitalented Boslen—a former rugby player for Team Canada—is seen taking a photo with a tiny fan, putting tracks together in the recording studio, jumping around the stage for packed crowds, and hanging out backstage. A sad love song but a far cry from a ballad, “Tell Me Why” has Boslen singing the downright sexy chorus, “On another ocean drive in the middle of the night/The harder that I try, the less I get it right/And I don’t even mind/‘Cause I’m fuckin’ up my life for you.”

To mark the occasion, he’s partnered up with DL Chicken for a limited-edition Bozzy Burger complete with signature fried chicken, bannock (from Tiny Wolf Creations), and bacon. It will be available at DL’s Commercial Drive location on November 24 and 25; the artist notes on his Instagram that they will be doing an after-school giveaway for kids from 3pm to 4pm today (the 24). Get there early—it seems very likely that these sandos will sell out.
