Last scheduled to play Vancouver while the world was in complete lockdown during the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic, Passenger will touch down at the Orpheum in the late summer. The artist also known as Michael Rosenberg appears at the city’s most regal of theatres on September 10, with tickets going on sale January 19.

Most of the world knows Passenger for his ubiquitous breakthrough smash “Let Her Go” off 2013’s All the Little Lights. The Brighton-raised Rosenberg himself has been open about being in some ways defined by one mammoth song, noting in the past: “I see my career as having two distinct phases—before ‘Let Her Go’ and after it. Before, I was busking, staying in hostels and on friend’s couches, travelling around and playing in pubs.”

Today, 3.5 billion YouTube plays for the song later, he’s playing soft-seaters, drawing on material from 13 solo albums, including 2021’s brilliantly titled Songs For the Drunk and Broken Hearted.

And as much as no one would be disappointed with a set list that might include beautufully blue essentials like “Scare Away the Dark”, “Wicked Man’s Rest”, and “The Wrong Direction”, when Passenger plays the Orpheum, the focus will be on a new, reimagined version of All the Little Lights, which was re-recorded and released this past fall.

Yes, you’ll be singing along to “Let Her Go”, but the magic won’t stop there.
