Xavier Rudd is coming to the Malkin Bowl

Australian singer-songwriter, environmentalist, human rights advocate, and all around chill dude Xavier Rudd has announced a Vancouver show for May 18. The multi-instrumentalist will play Malkin Bowl, with tickets going on sale February 9.

Rudd first began making a name for himself in 2004 as an artist for whom the didgeridoo was his primary musical instrument, his breakthrough release Solace produced by Vancouver-based Todd Simko. Over the years he’s maintained ties to the West Coast, working with industry vets like Dave Rave Ogilvie and keyboardist Panos Grames of the Grames Brothers.

Rudd’s Malkin Bowl show will see him drawing from both early outings like Food in the Belly and White Moth, and more recent records like Storm Boy and 2022’s Jan Juc Moon. Connecting those releases is a vibe that might be described as transcendentally laidback, and a spirituality deeply rooted in the natural world.

Ever find yourself thinking it’s all too much? Rudd is there to guide you to a better place. Cue up “Follow the Sun” and sing along: “When you feel life coming down on you kike a heavy weight/When you feel this crazy society, adding to the strain/Take a stroll to the nearest waters, and remember your place/Many moons have risen and fallen long, long before you came.”
