School board chair Patti Bacchus says False Creek elementary will stay open

The Vancouver school district will make counsellors available to False Creek elementary students and staff after a shocking package arrived at the school this afternoon.

Earlier today, Vancouver police deputy chief Warren Lemcke revealed that human remains were sent to False Creek elementary and a private school, St. George's, in Vancouver.

In a statement issued this evening, school board chair Patti Bacchus said that the False Creek school will remain open and staff are working closely with Vancouver Police Department investigators.

"On behalf of the Vancouver board of school trustees, I would like to express our deepest concern regarding the disturbing incident that took place at False Creek elementary on Tuesday afternoon," Bacchus said. "This is a difficult time for the False Creek Elementary community."
