Cherished venue Little Mountain Gallery returns to the Vancouver indie comedy scene

A beloved spot for indie comedy in Vancouver is making its triumphant return.

Once a mainstay of Vancouver’s comedy scene, Little Mountain Gallery closed its Main Street location back in December 2021 (the building was being torn down to make way for—what else?—condos. Which, hey—we need more density. But it’s gotta be affordable, and it can’t come at the price of losing every cool old building we have. I digress!). Now, more than two years later, Little Mountain is returning with an entirely new space—and a very ambitious opening show.

Now located in Gastown at 110 Water Street, Little Mountain Gallery is relaunching with a 24-hour comedy fundraiser hosted by local standup Graham Clark. During the show, other local comedians will stop by to share jokes and try to keep Clark motivated. Sounds like a gloriously wacky time. There will be a livestream of the event for anyone who can’t make it in-person.

The show will start on April 12 at 7pm and go until 7pm on April 13. While it’s primarily a fundraiser to help Little Mountain Gallery get back on its feet, partial proceeds from the evening will be donated to WISH: a non-profit in the Downtown Eastside that provides essential services to self-identifying women in Vancouver’s street-based sex trade.

It’s not the first time Clark has teamed up with Little Mountain Gallery for a full-day banger. Back in 2021, before the venue shut its doors, Clark performed for 24 hours to help raise money for a new space. Since then, the team has been hard at work to secure and then renovate its new space.

Regular programming starts on April 19, with shows—a mix of standup, sketch, variety, and improv—taking place every night from Tuesday to Saturday.
