Art Vancouver, the largest art fair in Western Canada, is back in Vancouver this weekend.

Running from April 11 to 14 at the Vancouver Convention Centre East, it’s a great opportunity to view local and international artworks up close.

The annual fair celebrates contemporary art through showcasing a bevy of galleries and artists from around the world.

Participating galleries for the fair include Perve Galleria, PHJ Gallery, Gallery UG, Society of Nigerian Artists, and Art in Dongsan. Included in the programming is a talk on Indigenous art called Censorship in Indigenous Art: Unveiling Challenges in Public and Media Spaces, plus a runway show, a speaker series, a painting competition, art demonstrations, and hands-on workshops.

New to the programming this year is a satellite exhibit at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver, which will see the unveiling of a mural by Indigenous artist Natasha Redwood-Scribe, among other activations.

“We are excited to expand the vibrancy of contemporary art to downtown Vancouver through our new satellite event at the Hyatt Regency Vancouver,” says Marlene Ferhatoglu, director of marketing and events at Art Vancouver, in a release. “This expansion reflects our dedication to celebrating cultural expression within the global art community.”
