Vancouver Folk Music Festival announces its 2024 lineup

Back for its 47th year, the Vancouver Folk Music Festival has just announced its 2024 lineup of performing artists.

Known as one of the city’s best music festivals, every year it is attended by tens of thousands in the community, who head to Jericho to experience the sound and culture of traditional and contemporary folk and roots music.

For the 2024 edition, performers include South Africa’s Bantu Continua Uhuru Consciousness, New Zealand’s Māmā Mihirangi & The Māreikura, and BC’s own Ndidi O, Dawn Pemberton, and Moontricks (among many others).

“In a world that sometimes feels like it’s being pulled apart, there’s comfort in knowing that we’ll again be gathering at Jericho Beach on the third weekend of July and immersing ourselves in the musical magic of the 47th Vancouver Folk Music Festival. For this weekend, we can all feel the positive power of music and community, and their ability to change us all for the better,” artistic director Fiona Black says in a release. “In addition to many richly talented local and Canadian artists, we’re welcoming artists from all over the globe, including from the Ukraine, Côte d'Ivoire, Niger, South Africa, New Zealand, South Korea, Ireland, Mexico, Jordan, Morocco, Brazil, the UK, and Sweden, as well as a strong contingent from the US. What a privilege to be able to bring these diverse artists to make music together!”
