The live-action version of Avatar: The Last Airbender soared onto Netflix last month, and now you can find out exactly where those spooky Spirit World scenes were shot.

Netflix has updated its filming location service, Netflix in Your Neighbourhood, to highlight some of the parts of beautiful BC that stood in for beautiful Ba Sing Se. And it turns out Hollywood North played host to some of the most iconic shots in the show.

Take Aang’s trip to the spirit world, where he first meets legendary Avatar Kyoshi? That was shot in Robert Burnaby Park, home to both scenic greenery and a ripping disc golf course.

Later in the series, a return trip to the Spirit World takes place at the distinctly physical Panther Paintball course in Surrey—and a short hop from the A Rocha BC Centre, which doubled for Commander Zhao’s formidable Pohuai Stronghold fortress

Further afield, MacInnes Farms in Langley stood in for a cavern outside Omashu that’s part of a real cave system; and WildPlay Maple Ridge was transformed into the treetop home of Jet and his band of freedom fighters.

You can check out all of the Avatar: The Last Airbender filming locations at the Netflix in Your Neighbourhood site—if you need inspiration for where to smash your next cabbage.
