You Nearly Missed: MY!GAY!HUSBAND!’s last-ever DJ show

All good things must come to an end, and local DJ legend MY!GAY!HUSBAND is finally hanging up his headphones.

On April 20, the scene veteran otherwise known as Jason Sulyma is playing his last show under the moniker at Biltmore Cabaret, celebrating two decades of his DJ career as well as 15 years of the Glory Days parties he helped found.

Sulyma has deep connections almost everywhere in the city. Back when he told Mike Usinger what’s in his fridge (the halcyon days of 2016), he was a marketing manager for Fortune Sound Club; these days, he books the blossoming Hollywood Theatre and runs the annual Happyland music festival.

The queer dance purveyor hinted last year that his days spinning tunes would soon be coming to an end.

“This is probably one of the last times I’ll DJ under this name,” he told us, presaging his formal final show. “It was a different era for me; it was a different era for the city.”

His farewell show—also known as “The Last Dance”—will also see Rico Uno and Sincerely Hana holding down the stage. While Sulyma’s retirement might be bittersweet, he’s not going away forever.

Sulyma has promised to continue to do event promotion, as well as DJing other events under a different name: Classic. Catch him anywhere that isn’t a club under the new name.

So long, MY!GAY!HUSBAND!, and thanks for all the bops.
