Richmond RCMP seek suspect who kicked librarian (video)

      Richmond RCMP are looking for someone who allegedly assaulted a staff member of the Richmond Public Library yesterday (February 28).

      In a release, police said the incident occurred at the library (7700 Minoru Gate) at about 5:30 p.m. during a community event when a male suspect kicked a female staff member to the ground.

      The woman, who is in her early 60s, did not sustain serious injuries, and the suspect fled on foot.

      RCMP released the following description of the suspect:

      • Asian male in his early to mid-30s
      • clean-shaven
      • black, puffy three-quarter-length winter jacket
      • dark pants
      • dark Converse-style sneakers
      • wearing glasses and possibly carrying a blue backpack

      In the release, Cpl. Dennis Hwang said: “We are looking to swiftly identify, locate, and arrest this suspect. The suspect may be unrelated to the community event and may possibly be a regular at the library or the surrounding area.

      “We know there were many potential witnesses that will have valuable information to share with us. Anyone with information as to the identity of the suspect or his whereabouts is asked to contact us immediately.”
