Southeast Marine Drive traffic halted for hours after pedestrian killed in collision near Ross Street

      Vancouver has recorded its fifth pedestrian death of the year.

      It came around 6 a.m. when a man was struck on Southeast Marine Drive while crossing the busy road near the intersection with Ross Street.

      According to a Vancouver police news release, several passersby administered first aid until paramedics arrived, but the man was pronounced dead at the hospital.

      The 43-year-old driver, his wife, and a small child in a sedan were also taken to hospital for observation, and the motorist is cooperating with police.

      Traffic was delayed for several hours as police conducted an investigation.
