Elderly female pedestrian dies after hit by truck in East Vancouver

      Vancouver police are investigating the death of an elderly woman who was struck by a vehicle in East Vancouver.

      According to a Vancouver Police Department (VPD) news release, an 83-year-old woman was crossing East 30th Avenue on the east side of Main Street shortly after 11:30 a.m. on November 7 when she was hit by a black pick-up truck. The vehicle was driving at low speed while turning right on to Main Street.

      Although the woman was taken to hospital, she died shortly thereafter. Her death is Vancouver's sixth pedestrian fatality in 2018.

      The driver of the truck is cooperating with investigators.

      Anyone who has dash-cam footage or was driving in the area between 11:20 and 11:30 a.m. on November 7 is asked to contact the VPD Collision Investigation Unit at 604-717-3012.
