After a hit-and-run resulted in the death of a motorcyclist in Surrey last night, one man is in custody as Surrey RCMP ask for the public’s help in the investigation.

Around 9:30 p.m. on May 10, several 911 callers reported to police that a motorcycle had been hit by a pick-up truck on King George Boulevard near 73rd Avenue.

The collision had thrown the motorcyclist off his motorcycle while the truck fled from the scene.

A motorcyclist, a 53-year-old Surrey resident whose identity has not been released, has died from his injuries.

However, around 9 a.m. today (May 11), the suspected driver of the pick-up truck turned himself in at the Surrey RCMP detachment. The driver is in custody and the investigation is continuing on.

Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam video, or witnessed an older white pickup truck in the area, is asked to call Surrey RCMP or Crimestoppers.
