Vancouver’s best cafes and coffee shops: South Granville/Kitsilano

    1 of 1 2 of 1

If you follow Broadway down to Granville and find yourself in the South Granville/Fairview neighbourhood, there’s an air that things are getting just a little bit chicer. The feeling continues as you reach into Kitsilano, which, in Vancouver, is synonymous with expensive yoga pants, health shops, high-end brunch spots, and—of course—fantastic spots to grab a well made espresso. Here are some of our favourites.

      Lumine Coffee

While some shops boast their own house-roasted beans, Kitsilano’s Lumine sticks to what it does well—sourcing multi-roaster beans for finely crafted drinks and providing house-made baked goods that could win competitions. Flaky pastries are their speciality, so you’d be nuts to miss out on the double-baked banana chocolate hazelnut croissant.

      Kits Beach Coffee

What started as a seasonal coffee cart at the beach has grown into an aesthetic shop offering hot and cold espresso drinks, teas, and a selection of treats from local bakers. Across the street from the ocean, this spot also plays host to community events like a monthly community pottery club.

      Address: 1945 Cornwall Avenue, Vancouver

      Oide Coffee

Located in the Arthur Erickson-designed Waterfall Building, Oide Coffee on the edge of Kitsilano offers up crafted espresso drinks and matcha in a simple format: with or without milk. Its minimal menu is complemented by the shop’s minimal design: simple, pure, good.

      TurF

A hybrid workout studio, shop, and restaurant, TurF combines all that is necessary for a healthy life—so Kits is definitely the right neighbourhood for its business model. After a workout, enjoy plant-based meals like bowls and salads, or for something unique, try the mushroom ricotta toast. Along with an espresso, of course.
