Busterfest, a benefit concert for local music vet Clyde Hill, is coming to the Rickshaw
Clyde “Buster” Hill is a music manager and industry fixture in Vancouver.
A former musician himself, Hill toured Japan in the 1980s before moving to Canada and forming AMAR Management—credited with launching the careers of bands including Nickelback, Noise Therapy, and Jar (also known as Flybanger).
Hill is currently battling pancreatic cancer, which has united the Vancouver music community in support of him. A benefit concert dubbed Busterfest is set to take over the Ricksaw on July 27, with funds raised going to help Hill pay for his care.
The members of Jar have come together alongside OC/DC (an AC/DC tribute band) and members of Noise Therapy—with more acts to be announced in the coming weeks.
“Clyde is the manager/promoter who, when no one else was paying attention, discovered and developed huge bands like Jar/Flybanger, Noise Therapy, and a lesser-known Alberta band: Nickelback,” jokes Tom MacDonald, Jar bass player and Busterfest organizer, in a statement. “I hope everyone will join me in extending our deepest wishes for his recovery. I can’t thank Clyde enough for his friendship and mentorship over the years I have known him.”
