True North strong and fierce: Vancouver drag queens among performers spotlighted in Canada's a Drag
If you think Canada’s a drag, that’s actually quite a fabulous aspect of the country. And a CBC Arts series helps to highlight this fact—with sparkles.
The Season 2 premiere of Canada’s a Drag will be on February 13 online via the free CBC Gem streaming service.
The docuseries, which will features 12 episodes for its second season, takes a look at Canadian drag queens and kings who keep the True North strong and fierce.
Things will kick off (its heels) with a spotlight on a Vancouver entertainer: Alma Bitches.
The bearded Alma Bitches, who hosts events around the city and appears on stages across North America, overcame addiction, embraces body acceptance, and entered the world of drag in 2010 as Sister Alma Bitches with the Vancouver Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence.
Another Vancouverite to be featured in the series will be transgender queen Quanah Style.
Quanah Style was the star of the docuseries Quanah: Trans Op, has performed from Vancouver to Toronto to L.A., and has opened for Bif Naked, Buffy St. Marie, Peaches, Lady Bunny, and more.
More British Columbians in the mix are Eddi Licious from Victoria and Jenna Telz from Kelowna.
