Whether you hate to love them or love to hate them, the sound of fireworks is a given on Canada Day. And while Coal Harbour no longer hosts fireworks on July 1, it doesn’t mean there are still not plenty of opportunities to see the skies light up in a dazzling spectacle.

Here are some spots throughout the Lower Mainland where you can catch a fireworks show this weekend.

      Surrey Canada Day fireworks

With a full day of performances from acts like The Sheepdogs, Sass Jordan, and Don Amero, Surrey’s Bill Reid Millennium Amphitheatre is sure to draw a crowd this long weekend. The day also includes a vendor market, food trucks, access to rides (weather permitting), and, of course, fireworks.

      Burnaby Canada Day fireworks

This Canada Day, Burnaby is hosting three separate community events at Edmonds Plaza Park, Burnaby Village Museum, and Civic Square. All three free-to-attend events feature family-friendly activities such as live entertainment and face painting. Nearing the end of the evening, StreetFest at Civic Square will close with a fireworks finale.

      Coquitlam Canada Day fireworks

Spend the entire day in Coquitlam at Town Centre Park, where the celebration starts at noon. Headlining the evening is The Boom Booms, a local reggae Latin band. Visitors are encouraged to head to Lafarge Lake for a fireworks show after the sun sets.

      Abbotsford Canada day fireworks

Kick off your Canada Day with a parade and end it with a fireworks show in Abbotsford. Starting at 11 am, Abbotsford Exhibition Park will host a jam-packed day with family festival zones, plenty of food trucks, and over a dozen performers before ending the evening with a boom.
