British police to reopen 40-year-old Brian Jones case
Citing a wealth of new evidence, police in Sussex, England, have announced that they intend to review the death of founding Rolling Stones guitarist Brian Jones.
On the night of July 2, 1969 (less than a month after the Stones had officially given him the boot), 27-year-old Jones was found dead at the bottom of his swimming pool at Cotchford Farm in East Sussex.
According to the coroner, the musician drowned while under the influence of drugs and alcohol, but rumours of a more sinister cause of death have circulated for decades.
In a statement issued on August 31, Sussex police say they have received more than 600 documents related to Jones's death from investigative journalist Scott Jones. The statement indicated that the papers "will be examined by the force, but it's too early to comment at this time as to what the outcome might be."

Interesting. In the film Stoned, it states that Frank Thorogood, a "housegeust" of Jones', made a deathbed confession, claiming responsibility for the murder of the musician.
But the Wikipedia entry on Stoned describes the film as "historical fiction". IMDB calls it "fact-based story".

Funnily enough, "historical fiction" is precisely how I tend to decribe Wikipedia!
