what ever happened To The Pianos On The Street?

They just faded away. For awhile there the city was so romantic. Walk along here something in the distance then come across someone playing beautiful music. Its a shame they're gone now.

Poular pianos

Never got a chance to play one but from the sounds other people were getting out of them those pianos were on their last legs, being out in the weather probably didn't help.

They’d be destroyed now

In the current society that exists here in what was once an idyllic place to live, we can no longer have nice things. When people are being randomly attacked and stabbed on the street in broad daylight, I can’t imagine that a piano would be free from vandalism.

Imagine the wonderful benefits if our society provided covered sheltered decent pianos in parks, shopping centres etc. The expenses of doing so would be pennies on the $$ rather than continuing to fund all the weapons of wars.

Some of the pianos were rough.
A few were fairly in tune and the good musicians would gravitate to those.
It made for a little bit of culture in a city that is pretty much a police state.... police that do nothing.

A contract will be let out to a politician's friend or family member, and we'll be charged 10x the going rate with good kick backs.

Like that $5M chandelier hanging under the Granville bridge, or the million dollar (after repairs) birds in the Olympic Village- I could go on and on

Came with a cost

The org that was coordinating them would find places to store them. But when my event wanted one on site, they delivered it ($) but then had no place to move it to. They asked if we wanted it or knew anyone who did. We tried but not everyone can just take a piano. Sadly, It ended up being an inconvenience for us to store it until they could move it. Lots of coordinating behind the scenes for things like that.
