Langley’s CowDog Brew Co is opening in East Van

A few more taps will soon be flowing in Yeast Van, with Langley’s indie brewing company CowDog Brew Co moving into the Hastings-Sunrise neighbourhood.

Setting up shop in the former Callister Brewery taproom (the beloved nano-brewers announced in November that they’d be shuttering by the end of 2023), CowDog will soon be pouring pints of their Big Teefs IPA and Head Tilt Pale Ale for thirsty Vancouverites. And, if we’re lucky, a few new brews.

Currently, you can find the indie beer label on the shelves of select liquor stores in the Lower Mainland, Vancouver Island, and the Fraser Valley—the closest to Vancouver of which is LiquorMart in Port Moody.

The brewing company is headed up by former Royal Canadian Navy veteran (and also former homebrewer) Michael Hodgson and his wife Samantha, with their rescue pup Louis—affectionately nicknamed CowDog—acting as the company’s mascot (and “Chief Treat Tasting Officer”).

When exactly CowDog Brew Co. will open its doors isn’t yet clear, but with the brand’s affinity for canine companions, we have a feeling this might be a dog-friendly space when it does open.
