One thing Vancouver is seriously lacking is an abundance of good rooftop bars. Of course, there are a few—Black & Blue and Reflections among them—but we need more, I say!

Helping us out in that arena is Commercial Drive’s bar and restaurant Social YVR, which just reopened its own rooftop patio.

After closing for renovations, the roof area is officially back in action, now boasting a U-shaped bar, contemporary furniture, and plenty of natural light thanks to large, sloping windows. Which means we have a great new space in which to nibble on the restaurant’s food offerings, from Caesar salad to fried rice, and sip cocktails and beers. Life could be worse!
