Local thrashers Hyperia join forces with Main Street Brewing for their very own Hybeeria

What goes together better than metalheads and beer? It’s not really a metal show, after all, unless you’re three pints deep in the mosh pit, boots catching on sticky spots on the floor, and covered in what you sure hope is beer from a plastic cup that someone inexplicably lobbed into the crowd five songs in.

Local thrash outfit Hyperia have definitely been in that position, and they’re teaming up with Main Street Brewing to give their own booze-sozzled shows something special: a limited-edition can of signature Hybeeria.

“Four years ago, in late 2019, we paired up with New Level Brewing in Calgary to release the first Hybeeria,” says the band in a statement. “We sold out within the first hour of the premiere show. Since then, we have been wanting to do a Hybeeria 2.0.”

According to, well, the band, Hybeeria Ouroboros Lager is smooth and easy-drinking—and fills you with the vim and vigour necessary to go absolutely ballistic on your neck during the headbanging break.

The lager is being served up exclusively at the band’s WISE Hall date on December 15. It’s an album release show, celebrating Hyperia’s third face-melting full-length The Serpent’s Cycle, which dropped in November.

Also available at the show is the equally limited-edition Deathbringer Hot Sauce, made by drummer Aaron Bell, who happens to run a hot sauce company when he’s not behind the kit. Multitalented merchandising? We’ll drink to that.
