Key Party: Hidden bar tucked behind an accountant’s office opens on Main Street

They often say don’t judge a book by its cover—in the case of Vancouver’s newest watering-hole, we couldn’t agree more.

Key Party (2303 Main Street) recently opened up, and the little spot has already been getting plenty of attention. Its entrance is hidden in plain sight by signage that reads “Zottenberg & Sons Accounting”, along with a filing cabinet, desk, and an old-school calculator.

But behind that brown wooden door in the “accountant’s office” is a 40-seat lounge with a 1970’s house-party vibe. Velvet drapes, upholstered booth seats, and a wooden bar make the space moody but fun. A majestic hand-painted mural behind the bar is the center of attention.

Owners Rachel Zottenberg and David Duprey are no strangers to offering cool concepts in Vancouver—they are behind other spots like the Emerald Supper Club, Narrow Lounge, Uncle Abe’s, and Rumpus Room.

Key Party adds to their roster of unique gathering places. ““I want to give people permission to be a little silly and not take themselves too seriously,” said Zottenberg in a press statement. “Enjoy the room and each other you know, have some fun for the sake of fun.”

Its cocktail program includes signature creations and classics, such as Spiced Sunrise, Coconut Cream Grasshopper, B-52, and Cherry Paralyzer. Other libations like jello shots made with champagne and cassis liqueur are also available. Each drink order comes with a complimentary bowl of party mix.

In terms of small bites, items like chili-cheese dip and veggie tapenade are on the menu.
