Among the stretch of independent businesses in the 600 block of Robson Street that have been served eviction notices due to redevelopment is Red Burrito's location at 606 Robson Street.

The local chainlet launched its first location at 1700 Commercial Drive (at East 1st Avenue) in late 2005, which is still operating. Since that time, it expanded to include several locations, including spots in North Vancouver and UBC which are still open.

It closed its Davie Village location at 1230 Davie Street in January 2016.

The Robson Street location opened in 2007 in a 1,100-square-foot space that seats under 50 patrons.

The Mexican and Tex-Mex menu of the casual counter-service eatery includes burritos, tacos, quesadillas, and tamales, with filling options such as Baja-style tiger prawns, chicken tinga, and Spanish rice with beans.

Other businesses closing on the block include India Gate Restaurant, which opened in 1978; Time Frame Gallery, which opened in 1977; Simon’s Bike Shop, which opened in 1986; and City Cannabis Co. (originally Vancity Weed). The businesses, which are being evicted by July 31, are part of a site on Robson Street at Seymour Street that is slated for a proposed 13-storey building to be built.
