The Polygon Gallery is hosting a screening of Out of the Blue, director Dennis Hopper's Vancouver-shot drama from 1980, on January 6 at 7 pm.

The film centers on the dysfunctional relationship between a rebellious and troubled young girl named Cebe (Linda Manz), her ex-convict father Don (Hopper), and her heroin-user mom Kathy (Sharon Farrell).

"Cebe runs away to Vancouver’s punk scene and ends up on probation under the care of psychiatrist Raymond Burr," reads the description on the Polygon website. "After Don’s release, the family struggles to reconnect before the revelation of dark secrets leads to a harrowing conclusion."

As well as New Westminster-born actor Burr, the film includes appearances by Vancouver bluesman Jim Byrnes and punk-rock icons the Pointed Sticks.
