Gateway Theatre announces 40th season programming

      Gateway Theatre has announced its 2024/2025 season programming, which features three distinctive shows and several one-day-only events. 

      The shows, which include modern takes on theatre classics alongside puppets, and romance, will take to the stage for Gateway’s banner 40th season.

      The current lineup of shows and one-day events are:

      Yaga: October 24, 2024 to November 2, 2024

      This is a Halloween murder mystery that retells the story of Baba Yaga, a feminist antihero in a classic who-dun-it that mixes comedy and drama. 

      Oliver!: December 12, 2024 to January 4, 2025 

      Charles Dickens’ holiday classic is retold as a musical by Lionel Bart, with award-winning songs such as “Food, Glorious Food” and “Consider Yourself”.

      Otosan: February 19, 2025 to February 25, 2025

      Inspired by co-creator Shizuka Kai’s experience with her wildlife videographer father, Otosan is a show featuring puppetry and uses actual wildlife footage.

      Pride & Prejudice: April 17, 2025 to April 26, 2025

      A classic romance novel by Jane Austen takes to the stage for an all-ages show to introduce new audiences to the ultimate enemies-to-lovers story.

      True Voices: August 1, 2024

      In celebration of Richmond Pride, this free storytelling event shares the stories of five LGBTQ2+ members.

      Moonlight Magic: September 24, 2024

      A free event celebrating the mid-autumn festival with lantern making and moon cakes.

      Silk Road Music: February 1, 2025

      A Lunar New Year concert with Silk Road Music showcasing a hybrid of Eastern and Western songs. 

      The Flame: March 8, 2025

      A one-day event featuring local storytellers and performers sharing their personal stories centring around anniversaries, birthdays, and traditions.
