Updated: missing 79-year-old Romanian-speaking man from Chilliwack found dead

      Update: Upper Fraser Valley RCMP announced in a news release that 79-year-old Ioan Pop was found dead on October 26.

      RCMP stated that the cause of death is not considered suspicious.

      The B.C. Coroners Service is involved in the investigation into his death.

      RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service are not offering any further information at this time.

      Upper Fraser Valley RCMP and Chilliwack Search and Rescue are seeking to locate a senior with dementia who has been missing since Tuesday.

      Ioan Pop, who is 79 years old, was last seen after 4 p.m. on October 22 at his residence on Teskey Road near Tournier Place in the Promotory area of Chilliwack.

      Pop is described as a white male who is 167 centimetres (five-feet, six-inches) tall and weighs 90 kilograms (200 pounds). He has grey hair and is bald on top.

      He was last seen wearing a brown pullover sweatshirt, blue Addidas track pants with white stripes, and house slippers.

      He suffers from dementia, and he usually wears a medical bracelet on his right wrist that has a phone number of his family on it.

      He does not speak English and he has difficulty speaking his native Romanian due to medical issues.

      Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
